In order for you to increase your efficiency when swimming, you have to learn how exhaling should be done properly. Remember that if you cannot do the breathing technique properly while you are on the water, this can hinder your movement and you mind end up gasping for air while you are underwater. When learning how to swim better freestyle, you should also learn that breathing is very crucial when it comes to this sport as proper inhalation and exhalation of air can assist the oxygen to flow in your body properly and give you the ability to expend a lot of energy and move quickly.

Freestyle is a swimming stroke which depends on the proper breathing technique and this is because your head is in the water oftentimes. That is why exhaling while doing swimming strokes should be something that you should pay attention. Most swimming coaches and trainers would recommend that you practice the proper breathing techniques for you to learn how to swim better freestyle or any other swimming strokes. Remember that breathing is an important technique and most of the best swimmers have already mastered this technique.

The moment you take your head out of the water, you should be able to take long, deep breaths through your mouth. The air that you breathe in should be exhaled through your nose as you get your head back underwater. If you have already exhaled the air using your mouth, make sure to resurface and get more air at a faster phase. By exhaling the air through your nose, you can prolong the process of exhaling and this allows you to remain underwater for longer periods of time.

Inhaling, on the other hand, slows down your body’s movement. This is due to the brief disruption on the body’s streamline shape. When your head is on the water’s surface, the body’s streamline shape should be maintained as this enables you to swim faster. This is the reason while exhaling should be stretched as long as possible and this will be achieved by using your nose when exhaling.

If you are new in to swimming, then you should know that different strokes in swimming require different techniques of breathing. But if you really wish to learn how to swim better freestyle, then you should learn how to properly exhale while swimming. Aside from that, if you are able to maintain steady rhythms of inhalation and exhalation when swimming, then you will not get tired easily when swimming. Take note that wrong breathing techniques will make the flow of oxygen in your body slower and this will make you feel exhausted faster.

You should take note of these things if you want to learn how to swim better freestyle and for you to be able to maximize the efficiency of your strokes as well:

---Let go of the air at a slow rate using your nose.

---Resurface on the water for another grasp of air when all the air is released.

---Make sure to be able to hold on to your breath as you reach half the length of the pool. The goal here is to practice taking few breaths during the lap.

---Prevent panicking and try to relax while you are underwater. In case you feel like the pattern of your breathing is a little off, you may try swimming with your head off water for several minutes or until you have regained your composure.
