Different Types of Back Pain Problems

Many people have complains on having back pain. It is very common especially people who are at the age of 40 and above. The fact is, there are many types of lower back pain and there are also causes on why this kind of ailment strikes people.

Here are some identifiable causes of back pain.

1. Osteoporosis – This condition is characterized by a decrease in bone density and there is an abnormal growth of the bone. It becomes porous thus the bones weaken and become brittle resulting to fracture and lower back pain as well.

2. Injuries – Spinal injuries can also cause severe back pain. Several accidents may happen and the back part of our body may be affected. A fractured spine is the worst case of an injury so immediate treatment should be done.

3. Herniated disc – The discs in the spine can sometimes rupture because of old age, certain bone diseases or improper posture. The nerves in the spine may be inflamed or it bulges causing lower back pain in individuals.

4. Pregnancy –Back pain is very common in women during pregnancy. This is due to an added weight in their body. Well, it cannot be avoided but proper posture is a must to balance the support of the back bones.

5. Arthritis – This kind of ailment that causes pain in the back is common in older individuals. The joints in the hands, legs, knees and ankles can be inflamed resulting to pain in the different parts of the body including the back.

6. Obesity – Another cause of backache is being overweight. A lot of people cannot control their food intake causing them to add more weight. The spine must be in balance with the weight of the whole body but in this case, it cannot support excessive weight resulting to back pain.

7. Scoliosis – Scoliosis is an abnormal curving of the spinal structure and severe back pain can be felt during the middle ages.

8. Spinal stenosis – A spinal stenosis causes the spinal canal to be constricted due to some underlying conditions like arthritis or osteoporosis.

9. Tumors – Tumors in the bones is the worst probability of having a back pain. Tumors can be benign or malignant so proper consultation should be done.

These are just several causes of back pain. The following are some immediate treatments in case pain in the back happens.

Hot and cold therapy – Heating pads or ice packs can be applied to treat the affected area in the back.

Massage – Another immediate remedy is a relaxing massage. You can ask the services of a massage therapist or your loved ones can do it for you.
Water therapy – A nice hot shower or a dip in a therapeutic bath tub would help alleviate back pain.

Exercise – A simple exercise of walking or body twisting can be of help to immediately or temporarily cure pain in the back.

Nutrition – Nutritious foods are essential in fighting certain disease. Fruits and vegetables and other foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals especially calcium, protein and magnesium are needed to strengthen the bones and muscles.

Proper consultation to the doctor is the best thing to do to determine the causes and treatments of back pain.
