When you ask the waiter, make sure to do it politely. Doing this will help you avoid ordering food that you don't like. Asking the waiter about the food is even more important if you have allergies on certain foods like shrimps or nuts. Bear in mind that tasty looking food does not mean it's good for you.
Language
Not everyone in the world can speak English. You must remember this when you travel to a foreign country. It is better to bring a dictionary with you all the time so you may be able to ask for directions or maybe ask some locals to take a photo of you and whomever you are with. Knowing how to say "thank you" in their language and other basic phrases is ideal when you travel.
Sometimes when you travel to different places around the world, you may experience what is termed as culture shock. You can get over this eventually and don't rush yourself to experience everything. At times, you may have our own perception of how a certain country is and it may not always be true once you actually get there.
