We can never be too careful where fire is concerned. There are so many ways that fires can start, but at least we can help ourselves with the right equipment. Obviously smoke detectors are your first line of defence against fire in your home. Many homeowners neglect these important guardians of our safety so please don't be one of them. First of all, make sure your smoke warning systems are placed in the proper locations. You should at the very least have one on every floor of your house. However, if the alarm doesn't go off after you've held the match there for more than a few seconds, the battery in your detector is dead and must be changed immediately.
