It should certainly not be stressful to plant your own garden; it should be enjoyable. This should be an enjoyable pass time so we are going to look at some ways to eliminate the stress so you enjoy gardening more.
Think of Children: When planning your garden out, you need to think of how your children and your garden will mix. For example, you don't want to plant delicate perennials on the edge of a flower bed where they run the risk of being trampled. Likewise, it might be nice to have a garden bed positioned in the center of your lawn, however the plants will not be safe if your kids play there a lot. You want to be flexible, so positioning the delicate plants at the back is a good idea and also creating some sort of shield out of a fence would be wise. Getting your children involved in your gardening project is a good idea. If they are involved they'll most likely take more care and be more attentive.
Watering: When watering your plants you must get the quantities right for your garden as it is bad for the plants health if you over or under water them. By looking at your plants you can see how much water they will need. So, you can see this by the petals and buds on the plants, if they are under watered then they will die and fall off showing it is not watered enough. After the buds and petals go then next are the leaves and then the stem and finally the roots. But you do not want to over water either as this is just as bad, as it stops oxygen from getting to the roots.
Diseases such as mildew and blight love wet soil; you do not want these diseases so you should not over water your plants.
Grow Some Veggies: You can also grow vegetables in your garden, in addition to beautiful flowers. To grow your own veggies you'll just need some seeds, soil, moisture and some sunlight. Growing your own produce is quite a bit of fun and extremely satisfying when you harvest the vegetables you grew yourself. However, it might seem a bit complicated to grow your own vegetables, as they must first be grown indoors and then moved out, where you must deal with insects and other various pests. Worry not, as you can first start out with something that's small, and then as you get more experienced you can do something more adventurous. Growing your own produce will not always mean that you save money but that's not what it should be about anyway. Growing some produce that is very fresh and high quality is what it's all about. Veg doesn't get more fresh than straight from your very own garden!
You can create a wonderful garden and it it definitely worth the effort doing it. If you are not enjoying the process of gardening you need to take a deep breath and remember it should be pleasant and not a chore.
