Double faced tape (more generally referred to as double sided tape) is almost certainly 1 of the smartest inventions ever. No drills and screws needed to secure a mirror or other object to the wall, simply apply the tape to your item, and secure it to the wall - as simple as 1 2 3 However, removing the tape from the wall isn't as simple as applying it initially. If you're not incredibly careful you can end up with the paint of the wall attached to your double sided tape.

By following a couple of incredibly straightforward guidelines, you can very easily and swiftly eliminate double faced tape from the walls, without damaging the paint or scratching the surface:

If you own a heat gun, you can make use the gun, but a normal hair dryer (blow dryer) works just as well. Set the heat setting to high and very cautiously move the gun or dryer up and down along the length of the tape. This will loosen the glue that sticks the tape to the wall and make the removal process even easier.

With the help of a plastic putty knife (make certain to use plastic, otherwise you may end up scratching the walls) you can very carefully lift one of the corners of the tape so that there is a bit of space in between the tape and the wall. In case you don't own a plastic putty knife, you can even use a plastic spatula with a thin blade. Then extremely carefully roll the double faced tape from the wall, gently using your fingers. In case you find that the tape does not roll away effortlessly, you need to apply more additional head. Ideally a combination of rolling the tape with your finger while applying heat will deliver finest results.

Once you have removed the tape it's quite essential to properly clean the area, just to make sure that all the glue has been properly removed. If some of the glue stays behind it will soon attract a great deal of dirt and other particles in the air. Glass or all-purpose cleaner works the best - clean the area and wipe dry with a soft cloth.
