If there is one model of car which has increased in popularity over the years it is undoubtedly the hatchback. The hatchback which was firstly produced by very few car manufacturers is now made by almost all automobile producers as corporations soon caught onto the increasing growth in sales of the hatchback. The cause for the first rise in sales of the hatchback was because of a poor economy, and as the demand for fuel efficient automobilesgrew so too did the supply.
Hatchbacks which were mainly popular in European countries due to its small size, making it easier to park in smaller parking bays as well as to drive down narrower streets. In America it was initially not such a hot seller as bigger type vans were more sort after. There is much more space in America, and Americans in general have a culture of, 'Bigger is better'. However even these days Americans have started making the switch to the hatchback as they are going through an economic crisis.
The popularity of the hatchback does not come as a surprise to me as besides being very fuel efficient it has other great points of attraction. A few of which I will be bringing to your attention in this report, just in case you needed some help making your decision to buy a hatchback.
Fuel
As I have mentioned one of the main reasons people choose hatchbacks are because of its fuel efficiency. Big vehicles and sports cars use a lot more fuel and in times when many people have needed to tighten their belts, those gas guzzlers are no longer practical. Not only does it offer great savings for families but also for students. In fact hatchbacks are a popular choice amongst students because of their fuel efficiency.
Entry level price
Hatchbacks in general cost less than other cars. Buying a hatchback means making a saving from the very get-go and coupled with the fact that it has great fuel efficiency means your accumulative savings will be much greater.
Size
As I have mentioned before a hatchback is compact and so makes it a great choice for those living in the city as they can easily fit into confined parking spaces. A smaller car is also better for beginner drivers as a smaller car is much easier to manoeuvre.
Space
Hatchbacks are small yet spacious. This may seem like a bit of a contradiction yet most hatchbacks are designed to offer enough space for people as well as cargo. If needing to transport more cargo, you can simply drop the back seats to make a flatbed on which to load your cargo via the hatch or 5th door.
Style
Don 't be tempted to think that just because a hatchback is a cheaper priced car that it does not have any of the cool stuff that can be found in other cars. You can get a hatchback with just about all the extras such as; leather seats, USB port, central locking, electric windows, remote controlled mp3 player and more.
I think I have given you enough reason why you should choose a hatchback, but if you still do not believe me then go and test drive one today
