It is a total no-brainer that if you want your site to be profitable, then you have to know what matters with visitors so they will: a) stay on your site, and, b) want to return later and read some more. So what you are looking at is doing those things that will encourage people to stay longer, and then you need to give them a very good reason to return. Just a few excellent usability tips to get you started.

Some people do not care so much about the specific design of your site, but enough will so that you do need to make some wise choices about it. We all want to do business with someone who has their act together, and that is along the lines of how people look at these things. Overall, people make decisions about sites based on very fast impressions, and you obviously want to make a good one. But what is a bad design anyway? Everybody has their own definitions which is one thing that makes it such a pain. If you are design challenged and cannot afford a designer, then the solution for you is a blog with a great theme.

You should never have mistakes in your content on every single page related to spelling or bad grammar. People are unforgiving because they know how fast and easy it is to correct these various mistakes. It's definitely not a good thing when one of your visitor takes a screen shot of your page and sends it to you pointing out a spelling mistake or a grammatical error.

Your visitors will take these small mistakes very seriously and may look at your website as unprofessional on the whole. Ask yourself, would you trust a website and buy something from it if you found out that it is careless to not even take of care of such small errors? If you are really serious about establishing trust and branding your business, then make the effort.

What is boring to one niche may be just great for another - so do your market research well. Obviously you want and need to be unique and all that good stuff, so just be careful you do it right and it works with your visitors. Your own mindset and perspective will come into play because some people just do not stop and think about these things. Gaining the trust of your readers starts with the first impression, and if they are still there after ten seconds then you are doing good. When your site usability is strong, then you will find out that people are staying longer and your conversions are better. There is a ton of additional information you can find on usability, and it is worth finding.
