A couple of weeks ago I went to choose out a hardwood flooring, as I am in the process of decorating my new home.
I have been trying to avoid it for weeks now, but as a result of decorating my bedroom, the dirty, paint splattered carpet, couldn't stay any longer.
So I decided it was time to visit the flooring showroom to find out the range of products available. I did hope to quickly find the right flooring for my bedroom, something that looked classic and stylish, without the gigantic price tag.
At the showroom, I was shown an array of different samples from laminate flooring all the way to tiles and carpets, The sales representative was extremely helpful and surprisingly merry considering it was a Monday. He listened as I told him my concerns about wooden flooring. My main worry was that it would look cheap, many wooden floors these days have a show home feel and don't feel very comfortable.
After an hour I came to a flooring I liked, it was dark brown pine hardwood flooring. To me it looked like it could've been from an old house, discovered underneath an old moth-eaten carpet. The pine was a dark dark brown colour and looked aged. I thought it would be perfect for my room. The sales rep told me this was one of their more popular styles with many customers using it in bedrooms and living rooms.
I also asked if it would be an issue because I have a dog and supposedly a wooden floor would make my life a lot easier, as it is easier to maintain. Stains can obviously be mopped up easier and dust can be swept up with the occasional dog hair. The sales reps at the showroom advised me to keep my dogs nails short to prevent scratches on my new flooring. I even got to take a sample home with me and after days of thinking I decided to take the plunge and get a wooden floor in my bedroom.
Many of my friends already have wooden flooring, but there are many varieties. From traditional wood like Ash and Oak all the way to professionally lacquered wood and bamboo, all of which look good and can add a twist to any kind of room. Whilst I was there I also had a sneaky peak at the range of tiles and laminate flooring and I think I have already found the perfect floor for my kitchen!!
Two weeks have past since a Hardwood floors dallas company installed wooden flooring and my room looks so much bigger. Not only does it look stylish but it also adds the final touch to my bedroom that I have worked away on for the previous few weeks. It is easier to clean and it is a lot warmer than I thought it would be, but just to make sure I added a vintage rug at the bottom of my bed. My dog liked it too, although seeing him walk on it for the first time was a bit like watching Bambi on ice.
Hardwood flooring comes in a range of styles and colours. These types of flooring are also easy to maintain it makes the job of cleaning up after them, much easier. However there are various rooms of the house where wooden flooring is impractical. In particular rooms like bathrooms and kitchens as water can have a disastrous effect on wooden flooring.
For rooms like this, its is sensible to use a flooring material like tiles or laminate. Both of which are very resistant and can cope with drips, stains and even flooding. Carpets are not feasible in these rooms either, for the same reason as hardwood flooring, they can suffer irreparable damage. Carpets are more suitable in cosier bedrooms and living rooms, they make a room feel more comfortable and cosy.
In my bathroom I have a laminate flooring, however it does look like a wooden floor. are designed to fool people into thinking the floor is actual wood/tiles, but is in fact a photographic image transferred onto a tough layer of board, they are also less likely to suffer from scratches and other forms of damage than real wooden floors. Laminate flooring is a less expensive and more effective way of having a realistic looking wooden floor in any room of your house.
My wooden floor has made my house look very refined and there are many different styles to suit any taste. Whether you would like it to look vintage or contemporary, there is a hardwood flooring for everyone.
