As a result of cutting down trees, we lose as many as six billion trees every year. This has to do with the demand for the products that are produced from trees. Writing paper and household tissue papers are an example of this, as well as the timber used to make houses. Regrettably, we need the goods that the trees produce but we can do something about the depletion of our woodlands.
Trees are celebrated on Arbor Day and the purpose of having Arbor Day is that we need to plant trees at that time but this is not truly tackling the issue. In reality, trees are not being planted by many people. If they planted trees, we would be all set.
Would you believe that there are roughly 7 billion people living on the planet? The actual numbers naturally fluctuate and so this is a calculated approximation. But then, if each of those 7 billion folks went out and planted a tree every Arbor Day, we would be able to replace all the trees that were felled that year. We are aware that this is unlikely to take place.
Hence, planting trees is something you must consider if you are worried about the air we breathe and the Earth. In terms of planting a tree, I would not advise you just do this on a certain day every year. I am suggesting planting a tree approximately once every month or even once a week. We must try to compensate for those who don't plant trees even though they keep on using the earth's valuable resources.
Would you believe that on Arbor Day, only approximately 8 and 15 million trees are planted? Hence on an annual basis, we are short by approximately 5 billion trees. This situation keeps on getting worse.
A complete answer is required that still encourages men and women to plant trees but I would like to suggest the following. If a law could be passed that every time a tree is chopped down by logging companies, they then had to plant two new ones, this could really make a huge difference.
We will need to continue to resolve this situation ourselves until there is the political willpower to make these changes. And it isn't going to take that much for us to replace the tree population each year. The number of trees felled annually could be replaced if ten percent of the world's population planted one tree on a monthly basis. On average, that would be just over 7 billion trees being planted each year. And that 1 billion surplus of trees are exactly what we need to get our tree population back to where it should be.
Every person worried about the our planet can help by planting trees. Once again, it merely takes 10% of the total number of people in the world to begin making a difference. It is up to you if you want to get involved.
