The Kel-Tec P-11 was brought to the marketplace in 1991 by Kel-Tec CNC out of Florida. Like most of the other Kel-Tec pistols, the P-11 series was designed for the concealed carry and self-defense market.

Swedish weapons designer George Kellgren was hired to create the P-11 layout. Kellgren wanted to lessen the overall weight of the pistol so he designed a polymer frame that mated to to a steel frame with steel internals. The result was a handgun that weighed only 20 ounces when fully loaded.

The P-11 was designed to shoot 9mm rounds and the factory magazine carried 10 rounds. Kel-Tec later offered an aftermarket extended 12 round mag that featured a pinky extension. For a very short time period, Kel-Tec also offered versions of the P-11 that were built for the .40 cal. (called the P-40) and the .357 Sig (called the P-357). These higher powered models proved to be difficult to control and shoot so they were removed from the market after only 2 years of manufacturing.

As the P-11 has been popular since it was brought in to the market place, most well known holster makers make holsters for it. The P-11 is small enough to fit on an ankle, but slightly large for a pocket holster (unless you have really big pockets). It makes an excellent choicefor use with an IWB gun holster due to it's light weight and slim profile.

The Kel-Tec P11 is an outstanding choice for CCW or self-defense. It has enough round capacity to deal with most problems, yet is lightweight enough to tote around all day. Probably the one complaint with the P-11 is it's long, heavy trigger which comes in around a 9lb pull.|In terms of CCW pistols under $300, the P-11 is a clear winner. The 10 or 12 rounds of 9mm is enough firepower to deal with most two or four legged situations, and the 20 ounce weight means you can comfortably carry it all day. My only real concern with the P-11 is the heavy trigger that Kel-tec sets at a hefty 9 pound pull. Aside from that being a little too heavy for my personal preferences, I think the P-11 is a steal.|Aside from the heavy 9 lb trigger pull, I can't really find any other major issues with the P-11. Although the 9mm isn't my best caliber selection for self defense, the 10 or 12 rounds carried in the P-11 will be sufficient to address most self defense situations
Author Resource:- The Kel-Tec P11 has been available since 1991 and has a loyal following. However, it can sometimes be hard to find the best gun holster for this handgun. If you are in the market for a pistol holster, try visiting our website at Kel-Tec P11 Holsters.
