I think I speak for everybody if I say that no one really enjoys moving! Bubble-wrapping all of your private belongings, then packing it into boxes and then on top of that trying to find an established moving company so that all you own arrives at your new place in 1 piece.
Plenty of people are worried about their furniture removals. I conversely, don't worry about my furniture too much - it's the zillion and one other (smaller sized, delicate, breakable, expensive!) things that worry me!
The last time we moved, we utilized a company that handled our furniture removals only - the remainder of the content of our home and garage area was moved in bits and pieces by ourselves. You can just imagine what a tedious and time-consuming process that was! I am not over exaggerating when I say that we must have made 30 trips up and down in two cars to get all our clothing, kitchen and other electrical appliances, bedding and curtains to our new place. Fair enough, it was only about thirty minutes drive apart, but it was really a pointless quest!
Furniture removals companies are experts in their field! If you do a tiny amount of prior organizing you can be moved into your new house in under a day! With a bit of prior coordinating I mean trying to pack as many loose items as possible into boxes, bubble-wrapping precious items and ensuring that the removal firm has quick access to everything that must be loaded onto their van.
If you have pieces of furniture that are too big to get out of your home (trust me, that happens!) it is your obligation to take care of this beforehand. Sometimes it would be required to remove a security gate so that your fridge can fit through the door - this is not the removal firm's duty - do not expect them to arrive equipped with the required tools and equipment.
To make the moving process as pain-free as you possibly can, make sure that the removal vehicles have quick access to both the old and new properties. If their vans can't fit into the driveways they will have to carry all your possessions to the vehicle parked outside - this is not only time intensive but might also result in further expenses. Make sure to clear this with the furniture removals company when first obtaining quotations for the big move.
Talking about quotations, this is an essential part of the moving process and requires some prior groundwork! Make sure that you provide company with a detailed list of the items that need to be moved. You do not want them to arrive with a van or truck too small to fit all your possessions! Keep in mind that a lot of companies quote by the size of their vehicles and the number of things that need to be moved, so don't be annoyed if you're slapped with a hefty bill afterwards if you were not sincere about the size of the job involved!
