Anxiety has had a detrimental effect on my health. It has caused my blood pressure to fluctuate and stress me out. I was constantly going back and forth to the doctor, being put on different medications that made me sicker than I already felt. Most days I didn't want to get out of bed because I always felt tired and drained from all the anxiety. I started doing research on anxiety, and found out that about 50 million people a year are affected by anxiety disorders.

Not to mention, patients suffering from anxiety without getting it under control increase their chances of heart disease, high blood pressure, and a lower quality of life health-wise. The suicide rate for those suffering from anxiety has also increased a great deal within the last ten years. I realized that if I didn't get my anxiety under control, I might not be here to enjoy life and watch my kids grow up. Believe it or not, that is exactly what I did. I found a way to naturally get my anxiety under control without taking beta blockers for anxiety.

The first thing I started doing was getting regular exercise on a daily basis. No, I didn't go to a gym. I just started walking every day around the block for about 20 or 30 minutes. Many healthcare professionals would agree that exercise is good for your body and helps you to relieve tension or anger that may be causing you anxiety. Besides, it can also help you get your body in shape, since anxiety is somewhat linked to obesity.

I started taking multi-vitamins and I cut off the caffeine. You may think that caffeine can help you stay more focused, but it can actually make stress and anxiety worse. It really depends on the amount of caffeine you consume, but I cut it off completely. I stopped drinking because even though alcohol calms your nerves, if you drink it regularly it can cause an elevation of your blood pressure. High blood pressure causes anxiety.

I started eating more fruits and vegetables, drinking plenty of water, doing breathing exercises, and I also bought me some lavender oil. Lavender oil has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety, relaxing your muscles and your mind so that you can feel better. I no longer take medication and, believe it or not, I feel much better about my health. Even the doctor was impressed!
