Cyndy and I are presently in Boise, Idaho. We are with our 19 & 17 yr old daughters, doing a tour of Boise State Unniversity. This is the "front runner" school for the girls, and I must admit, it is a very nice place.

As we sit in our hotel room, we mull over the real chance, that by this time next year, BOTH our little girls (Pumpkin & Peanut) will be out of the nest, and away from the warmth & shelter of our "Home Nest".......the lump in our throats gets bigger, and the weight on our hearts gets heavier. Even writing this BLOG is a major challenge for ole DAD !! "Honey can you pass me the Kleenex?"

Consider it? We bring these little individuals into the world, and it is the "Scariest Time" of your life. I remember the wife & I crying on the bed the night we brought home our pumpkin. She was so reliant, so needing, & so magnificent. WHAT HAD WE DONE??? We really questioned if we were up to the task? Then 2 years, 1 month later, our little peanut comes along, and we get home with her .....and we cry again, because now we have TWO that DEPEND ON US !!! A new "Scariest Time" is born. We somehow manage???

Then as years go by, and the girls grow to become young ladies. They can ride their bikes to school, they can make their own PBJ's, they can even stay the night at a friends now & then....Partial freedom...AHHH, feels good !!! It's now a different kind of frightening, but at least our girls still rely on us.

A few more years and then boyfriends hit the picture. Then you add to the mix driver's licenses. They have sweet sixteen parties & go to proms. They get jobs, join youth groups, they are busy young adults.

The time has come, the cuddling & hugging doesn't happen as often. The "family movie nights" have all but disappeared. They have things to do. Places to go. People to meet.....We are so proud, and at least they still depend on us.

Moving forward rapidly to Labor Day Weekend 2010.

Boise State Unniversity. Big City. Dorms. Jobs. Transfering credits. Georgeous Boys? Apartment. New Friends. Expenses. Football Games. ........400 miles away !!! A new "Scariest Time" is born.....!!!

(I have to pause for a moment because the Lump in my Throat & the Tears in my Eyes are back again...... For gods sake mister...Man up !!! )

Our girls are "sprinting" towards that next stage, and the wife & I are wondering how this chapter "snuck up" on us so fast? It happens folks. All I can say is, enjoy the time you have with them. It doesn't last forever.

Finally to my Pumpkin & Peanut. You both have made your mother & me so proud. You represent what is "amazing & special" about having daughters. Go into this world with passion & love. Keep GOD close at all times, for he is the light.....We love you both so very much, and want you to know....that forever & ever.... you can Forever DEPEND ON US !!!
