If you are considering where to go on your summer holiday this year then you may want to consider the wonderful Caribbean island of Aruba. Situated in the Lesser Antilles in the southern Caribbean Sea, Aruba offers pretty much everything you might want from a wonderful Caribbean vacation. There is so much to see and do that you would have to spend at least two weeks there to really engage with the wonderful laid-back ambience and cultural the place.

When looking to plan a trip to this beautiful island, it is important that you first consider the location where you are going to go to. Thankfully, the island is very small and is only home to about 90,000 people. However, you should consider the sorts of activities that you want to engage in before you choose where you are going to stay.

There is certainly a great deal that you can get up to on this small island. Of course, one of the main reasons why anyone would choose to go to a Caribbean island will be to enjoy the tropical beaches, and Aruba certainly doesn't let you down to this end. There are beaches all around the island that will appeal to any beach lover, most of which have beautiful white sand and lovely turquoise waters.

Water sports are also rife all over the island. You can engage in windsurfing, surfing, body boarding, snorkeling, scuba-diving, jet skiing, deep sea fishing, and all sorts of other water sports. There are even glass bottom boats so you can go on and submarine trips that you could take in order to really get up close and personal to some of the wonderful Marine wildlife.

In fact, if it is Marine wildlife that you are after and you really want to get close then snorkeling and scuba-diving on the island really are excellent. In particular Arashi Reef has a wonderful array of colourful fish and beautiful corals to see, making this particular spot one of the most popular destinations to stay at on the whole island.

Of course, you can also go hiking off into the hills in order to engage with some of the land-based wildlife and to see some beautiful plants and animals. Arikok national Park has some wonderful trails and paths that you can either walk, or cycle on and as you get up higher you can also see some wonderful views down across the island and the seas.

The culture of the island is also typical of any Caribbean island, with a great vibrancy and colourful feel. There are many festivals held every single year, with certain festivals held weekly in order to engage the tourist population. The Caribbean Festival is intended to showcase the music, dance, and food that you get on the island, and is held weekly. As such, if you get a chance you should always make sure that you attend.

Of course, it is also important that you head to the capital at some point as well in order to find out a little of the history of the island. Oranjestad is a beautiful capital city and here you can visit museums, parks, and markets in order to get a further fear of what the island has to offer.
