You probably already know by now that those people who are undergoing CPAP therapies are required to have a sleep apnea mask that fits them properly. What people are not aware of is that there are many types of sleep apnea breathing masks available for patients; however, these masks are generally made of a silicone plastic material. This article will do its best to inform you about the different types of sleep apnea masks that are available for the patients' needs.

The first type of apnea masks is the nasal apnea breathing mask; it is what is commonly prescribed to most of the patients who are just starting their CPAP therapy. This mask when worn by a person covers the entire nose and is always secured by an elastic strap for the head.

In relation to this type of mask is the nasal cushion mask that is very similar to the previously mentioned. The only difference of this mask is that it has a nose cushion that covers the nostrils of the person using it. Along with this is that it does not seal the area around the nose, but it seals the nose itself; even though it may seem uncomfortable to wear, many people actually attest to the fact that this feels way better compared to the first type of nasal mask.

The third variation of apnea masks is the full face mask; this is also considered as one of the most popular among all the types of apnea masks. While this mask is also made secure by the elastics attached to it, the difference lies in the fact that it covers both the mouth and nose. This mask is what doctors recommend for people who are used to breathing through their mouth and those who are currently having troubles breathing because of a clogged nasal passage.

Now that you are aware of the different types of sleep apnea mask, you will already know the right one to use in the event that you need to wear one too, or if you know someone who does. This can really help those people who are going through several and various sleeping disorders.
