History and historical document tells a completely dissimilar tale as to where Christmas comes from, than to this common observance. The Roman Emperor Constantine created Christmas and made it the Christian holiday assimilating the story of Jesus from African mythicism and combining it with the current local Pagan festivals. These conventional observances can make it give the impression that Christianity has incorporated Paganism, by their apparent acceptance of these practices, that is where Christmas comes from, did you know that?

Christmas

The Christmas holiday, as we know it, is simply an accumulation of a cluster of mythology and customs that were in fact around long before the birth of Jesus. The reason Christmas is being viewed and interpreted upon in the Western realm as the Christian Holiday is mainly because people remain blissfully uninformed of where Christmas comes from. Looking at all the rituals beloning to Christmas there is barely anything that is beloning to Christianity itself and that is including going to the Christian Churches over Christmas, as this was the ritual observed originally by the Pagan Worshippers.

Jesus

During the time of Roman Emperor Constantine the Great Paganism was "Christianised" throughout the empire. Christmas was an ancient Pagan celebration that had nothing to do with Messiah's birthday and everything to do with honouring Pagan gods, something Christianity and especially the branch that believes in Creationism (as opposed to Darwinism) does not like to acknowledge as the Pagan Rituals and their prehistory proves that the Earth is a lot older than the presumed 6000 years they hold for true. The early Christian Church, when dealing with the ancient pagan Midwinter Festival, found itself in a dilemma. So they set that if they couldn't prevent the pagans from observing their heathen rituals they would simply "re-label" those similar practices and celebrations as "Christian". As Christianity spread, this form of incorporating a pagan holidays and customs into Christianity continued. They did this to bring more pagans into the "Church and what we see now is a result of this incorporation.

Holiday

The Romans made a transition from polytheism into Christianity and instead of changing tradition they blended many holidays and traditions into their new found State Sponsored version of Christianity. In my mind Christmas is an excellent holiday to decorate, celebrate, exchange gifts, eat a mouthwatering dinner and best of all spend quality time with loved ones.

Modern

Many kids this day are a lot smarter and better educated than we were when we were kids and believed in Santa Claus, while we did not really get a government endorsed white bearded man in a red suit, kids this year, 2010, do. It is in America where you get an entire governmental branch using money to track where Santa Claus ought to be in case that he is delivering the Christmas presents on time.

Whilst most believe it is a waste of money, especially since it is tax payers money, to commission NORAD to track where Santa is supposed to be, I firmly believe that its resources are being put to really good use when it is spreading message of peace and joy and it is also putting the ever expanding universe of online social media to an even better use.

Conclusion

I know there are a load of dissimilar stories relating to where Christmas comes from but just believe in whatever makes you happy. Regardless of your religious beliefs, it's a time of good will to all and with this in mind it doesn't really matter where you believe Christmas comes from as long as you follow this one rule.

So to everyone out there, here's my message of good will to all: Happy Holidays!
