Automation and technology have added a lot of comfort and convenience to our modern day lifestyles. The days are gone when each item we buy at the food market must be punched in on the till, 1 by 1. Products are now scanned quickly, saving us lots of time and energy in the process.

An increasing number of processes are becoming automated. It's difficult to believe that the first automobile was constructed completely by hand! These days factories depend on automated equipment and in some cases robots to complete the work quickly and effortlessly.

In our homes the situation is exactly the same.

As times change our accessories and resources become more and more automated. A number of years ago it was still necessary to do the weekly laundry by hand, rinse it and hang it up to dry. Nowadays you only need to put all your washing in one machine and watch your chosen story on television whilst your automatic washer takes care of the washing, rinsing and spinning of the garments! With some even more advanced models your clothing is even tumble dried without you ever having to abandon your chair.

We also have the option of gate automation. Nobody feels at ease getting out of their cars in the middle of the night to unlock the safety gate leading to your garage. This leaves an individual exposed and isn't great in a country with such a high crime rate. Gate automation is indeed easily and quickly - just be sure that you call in the help of a professional company as (with all procedures involving mechanics or electrics!) it is important that the system is installed by a professional.

Should you have a computerized gate motor, you will probably have automated garage doors too! Why would you want to get out of your vehicle on a stormy day, if you can simply push the button on your remote, drive into the garage and from there walk directly into your kitchen?

The key advantages of gate automation, automated garage doors and even automatic washing machines are that they are user friendly, add comfort to our day-to-day lives and save us time and effort!

The main downside is that many of these automated systems need some type of power - usually in the form of electricity or batteries. In cases where the electrical power is off for reasons unknown and you cannot do you washing it is definitely not really too much of a train smash. But what if your gate and your garage door refuse to open and you are either stuck inside your house, attempting to get to the office, or outside your gate, looking to get back into your own home?

It is always important to have a backup system installed. The moment the electricity supply to the motor is interrupted, a battery system should immediately switch on. Make sure to test this system occasionally and make sure that the batteries are properly charged. Select use having a backup system in the form of a battery pack if the batteries are frequently flat!

If that happens you may have no other option but to scale over your own gate. or wait in your vehicle until the power comes back on!
