Is Usana the Right Opportunity For You? There are pros and cons to the Usana business opportunity, depending on what is most important to you. The first question that you need to ask yourself is "Why do I want to do a home-based business?" Is it for a little extra money, you need a hobby, you like the product and would buy it no matter what the price or you are serious about building a business and looking for the right opportunity. If your "why" is the latter then there are some things that you need to consider.
Usana was founded in 1992 by Dr. Myron Wendtz, a microbiologist, immunologist and pioneer in the development of human cell culture technology and infectious disease diagnosis. The company has been around long enough to be established and stable. This is a good sign that the company will be around for a while. The negative side of this is that Usana is an older company so it will take a significant amount of increased effort to recruit into an opportunity that has been around for a while. There are so many other vitamin and wellness MLM's competing for the same market share that you'll spend alot of your time trying to convince prospects that your product and pay plan is better thatn the next guys. Had you gotten in back in the 90's it would be a better bet at building a successful business. A great product and an OK compensation plan are not good enough reasons to believe that this could be your ticket to building a successful business.
So what are some other points to consider? The product is scientifically based, peer reviewed and they have a team of scientists who know how to keep their product on the cutting edge of nutritional research. However, if you are looking for a business opportunity then product is only a part of the equation. You need to ask yourself, "Can I make the income that I need from this opportunity?" Even though Usana is backed by science and their nutritional products are excellent, creating residual income through leveraging the efforts of thousands of people is a much more difficult thing to do because of the health and wellness nutritional market saturation. Can you really build a business using traditional methods where you have to overcome a huge amount of resistance because almost everyone and their brother has already been approached by someone to earn extra money selling vitamins.
If a big part of your "why" is that you truly love the product and believe that you can really be not only successful at selling the product but also good at recruiting others to follow you let me suggest to you another way to add to your leads list. Yes you can talk to your neighbors, friends and relatives and you can buy lists (which in my opinion is many times a waste of money) or you can have a system that can not only bring you leads everyday but can qualify those leads so that you are not wasting your time with tire kickers and less than serious prospects. This system can explode your business. In fact, you'll wonder why this had never occurred to you before. It doesn't matter if you've never had a successful MLM business before.
