If the ideal summer Saturday is a backyard BBQ where you are grilling for your family, you are likely getting good use out of your grill. Over time you will discover that you need to replace some of your Weber propane grill parts. Before you get to that point it is a good idea to learn a bit about your grill and your options.

Parts for your grill can be broken into these four easy categories: original grill parts, replacement parts, optional features, and accessories. This article will discuss some of the more common parts within each of these categories. While there are several models of barbecues, there are many common parts across models.

The base of the grill, also known as the cooking box, can be thought of as the foundation. To it you add on until you have a working product. The lid, normally made of heavy duty porcelain on steel, attaches to the cooking box to complete the basic shell of your grill. But without burners and the knobs to control them, you have an empty shell. Multiple burners are a common feature on most grills today. Each burner has its own control knob, allowing you to have very accurate control of the heat source and temperature while cooking.

Above the burners are the cooking grates, which are sometimes called cooking grids. The cooking grates form the surface upon which you place the items to be cooked. They might be made of stainless steel, porcelain enameled steel, or cast iron. If your cooking grates are made of cast iron, you will need to season them according to the manufacturer's instructions prior to the first use. A key part of the cooking process is performed by the flavorizer bars, which are designed to catch some of the drippings in order to "smoke" enough to enhance the flavor of what you are cooking. The excess drippings and grease will accumulate in the drip pan below the cooking box.

Most all of the parts on your grill are likely able to replaced as they break or wear out through use. Whether you need new burners or new drip pans, or possibly even new wheels, there are lots of locations where you can find parts to replace your worn ones. Keep in mind that you will probably need to know the model number of your grill in order to ensure you buy the correct part.

While it is not a standard feature with most units, a common option added later is the rotisserie. You can get different varieties of rotisseries, but each one will require a motor to make it operate. The style of rotisserie that you select will depend on what type of cooking you want to use it for. It might be as simple as a traditional spit that you can spear a roast with, or as different as a round cage-like basket that you can load with smaller items to cook as the basket spins.

The final types of parts are accessories, which are not essential to the cooking process, but can enhance it. For example, you might need special utensils for cooking on the barbecue, or possibly a basket in which to cook vegetables or delicate items that could fall through the normal cooking grates. You most certainly will want to keep your grill clean. This can be accomplished by using special brushes made to clean the cooking grates after each use, and then covering your grill with its heavy duty cover.

The point is, when you need or want Weber propane grill parts, there are lots of them available to choose from. Whether a replacement part, a new feature, or an accessory to clean or protect your grill, you have many options to improve and maintain your unit, and thus enhance your barbecuing experience.
