Over the last 12 years in this industry, I’ve seen a lot of people have astronomical success. I’ve been around, and studied, some of the biggest and wealthiest leaders in the network marketing arena. However, I have also seen many more people fail.There are tons of reasons why new marketers fail or quit their business. In this article, I'll hone in on one of the biggest reasons why marketers do not succeed, so you can stay clear of it while building your business.
One of the biggest reason why new marketers fail is that they do not give themselves time to succeed. Building a business takes time. There’s a process that you need to go through. For instance, the average person who is just getting into the industry has never built their own business before, and if they have, chances are it wasn't a network marketing business. There’s a learning curve you need to go through. I'm not talking about learning how your products work because that's fairly simple. I'm talking about the time it takes to learn the marketing skills you need to win. I'm talking about learning how to change your thinking process... from an average mindset to a success-oriented mindset... from a negative attitude to a consciously positive attitude. I'm talking about learning the right people skills you need to build a successful organization. All of this takes time. In addition, you need to understand that your key people will also need some time to go through this curve.
Now, it doesn’t take 10 years to have success in this industry, but it certainly won’t happen overnight. Too many new marketers insist that they are not interested in a get-rich-quick sceme, then when they aren't earning 5-figures a month in their second month, they give up and think their business doesn't work.It does work, but you need to know that building your own business takes time.
The great Art Williams had an incredible amount of impact on me early in my career. Art used to always say that building the foundation of a strong business that will take care of you and your family takes about 3-5 years. Also, stats show that if you work your business and stay with your company for at least ten years, you stack the deck in your favor that you will be one of your company's top leaders. Now, you may be saying, "3-5 years? That's too long."I didn’t say that you had to starve for 3 years or 5 years. You will earn money and advance along the way.However, I am saying that if your goal is total financial freedom for you and your family, who cares if you have to invest the next 5 years into your business?
Remember, as you work your business and get hit with challenges along the way, and yes, there will be challenges, that is just part of life. Just because you’re a network marketer now doesn’t mean that life still won’t happen because it will. Just decide that you will be here long-term to build your business.
