The mobile phone industry has really come a long way from the first generation handsets we've seen back in the 80's. The emergence of a handful of mobile phone from manufacturers brought about competition which paved the way for innovation in the technologies used for mobile devices. Now, the industry is slowly being taken over by smartphones, a shift in the market brought about by the introduction of Apple's iPhone way back in 2007.

These handy mobile phones are known for their fast and powerful processors and operating systems capable of running a number of applications and features.
We all know a handful of manufacturers that aim to compete in the industry by designing new and better smartphones and the Korean electronics giant, LG is no different. The company has recently unveiled two smartphones, powered by the Android operating system, dubbed as LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One, both of which are expected to compete with other smartphones in the market.

Seeing that both names were taken from the Latin word "optimus" which means best, we can expect these two mobile phones to have only the finest when it comes to specs and features.

Expectations

Although LG has posted a number of photos of the LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One that are now circulating in the internet, the company has not revealed any information regarding the features, hardware and other specifications. There are, however, a lot of rumours as to the operating system the phones will run.
Since these two smartphones are said to be Android-powered mobile phones, we can expect that the two handsets will run the Android v2.2 OS also known as the Froyo. This operating system is the latest software from Google found in a mobile phone. As such, it possesses a number of innovations and improvements; top of the list is the integration of Chrome's V8 Javascript engine to browser application, as well as the support for Adobe Flash 10.1 and USB tethering.

The Android OS also implies that you have access to a series of apps and games found in the Android Market so you can easily download the apps of your choice.

Press Release

At a glance the LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One seem like their just any other smartphones we've seen from other manufacturers. As was stated earlier, they're different from what we've already seen since they will come with the latest OS from Google.

But apart from that the exterior design of the former is intended for fashion aficionados with its slick edges while the latter is anticipated to take the lead of the pack with its rumoured Texas Instruments ARM Cortex-A8 OMAP 3630 processor, 3.8-inch display, HD camera and HDMI/DNLA support.

Pioneers

According to their press release, the LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One are just the first two instalments of the company to their Optimus series of devices. This was brought by LG's desire to widen their margin of consumers by providing them with more choices. In fact, LG intends to release around 10 new devices under the line in the second half of 2010.
