Kurt Vonnegut was born on November 11, 1922 and died April 11, 2007. He was and still counts to one of the most influential book writers in America of the 20th century. One of his most popular novel is Slaughterhouse-Five in which he told about World War 2 and its inhumanity.
Kurt Vonnegut was born in Indiana to German-American parents. At the age of 22, he was captured at the Battle of the Bulge in December 19, 1944. His captivity and the bombings of Dresden also appear in his book Slaughterhouse-Five, experienced by the protagonist, Billy Pilgrim.
Shortly after coming back from War, Kurt Vonnegut married his childhood love about whom he wrote a bunch of short stories. In 1979 they divorced and Vonnegut got married to his second wife. He has many children. Three own kids, three adopted from his sister, who died from disease, and one adopted with Kurt's second wife.
The writer was famous for his black jokes, extraterrestrian stories and satires. Vonnegut was the honorary president of the American Humanist Association.
