There have been many famous mice throughout the annals of time and many of them have struck a chord in our hearts. Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Mighty Mouse and Jerry (of Tom and Jerry fame) are a few of the most endearing. However, it is a good bet that none of these wonderfully famous mice are the ones that have invaded your home. No, the rodents in your house are just your average pests and you should have no qualms about getting rid of them quickly.

Mice come through small holes and tend to hide in small nooks, which makes getting rid of mice a complicated task. Methods on getting rid of mice are doable on your own, but a variety of techniques may need to be used to get rid of mice completely. Keeping a home clean, organized, and uncluttered is the best way to prevent mice from showing up in your home. Properly putting away any food in secure containers and bags is important because it will keep mice from showing up anywhere near food.

Drawbacks to these are that in the act of capturing the mouse and killing it (by bludgeoning it with a tightly coiled spring), several things can happen that are not very desirable. If the mouse is only partially killed, blood can spill onto the floor. And if the mouse ultimately dies, it will release urine and feces. All of these can spread disease. Also, since mice are quick and intelligent, mice can grab the food and go hide, foiling the trap.

Keep your pantry dry and organized. Mice like to scavenge for food and the first place they would lurk is at your kitchen and pantry area. Keep it organize. Tupperware items that they may like or may have access to. Keep the pantry dry and clean. From time to time, take out stored items and see if there are any holes or crumbles in the floor or the walls. If there are, chances are that mice may have gotten into your kitchen. If this happens, it is best to call a extermination specialist to resolve the problem.

If getting rid of mice would be quite a job on your part then you could always ask for outside help like the best exterminators in town. They are well-trained and packed with experience that would surely be of great help to your problem. Now, if you think getting rid of mice is an easy task then here are the steps you need to follow: Get a trap and it has two kinds of trap: snap and humane. The latter are small cages that would trap the mouse inside however, it won't kill it, and so you need to be prepared to get rid of it still alive.

Listen if there are noises of mice running in your home. They sound scratchy, almost like a small jog or scamper. Mice can travel inside walls or ceilings, which is possible since they are small and can fit in most spaces in between walls and definitely in the ceiling.

Ensure cleanliness is being practiced in your home: Empty your trash on a daily basis since rodents thrive in it. Keep it orderly and organized too. A messy trash bin would be any rodent's object of affection. Segregate, box and cover, if you want to.

Your best bet, though it may be considered inhumane by some, is the glue trap. Basically it's a piece of cardboard or plastic with an extremely sticky surface. You place bait on it, and once the mouse walks on it, it'll get stuck. These work quite well, but sometimes the mice will die a prolonged death because of exposure. Try to check these traps daily or you may find yourself a dead mouse who died a long painful death.
