The challenge in overcoming procrastination is being willing to give up the adrenaline rush it provides. Procrastination is really an addiction. When you procrastinate you are receiving a steriod similar to opium that is released from the adrenaline rush. It feels so good to be late and have to rush everywhere, to be late competing projects at work, to leave homework until the last minute and to pay bills at the last possible second that people will make a point of always procrastinating. If you are in the habit of doing these things then you are a procrastinator.
Overcoming procrastination is going to take some work on your part because you have become so accustomed to living how you have been taught is the right way to live. People have been conditioned to believe that if they work hard and go to college they will get a good job and have financial success. As long as people follow this plan they may succeed at making it to that good job, but if they decide to begin their own businesses they don't know what to do. They end up doing things that will keep them from having to do anything at all and this is procrastination. This can only lead to failure.
The reason that someone who has been successful in their jobs has a hard time when they open their own businesses is because they have to become a self-starter. They have been conditioned to have someone managing them and their time. When they have to do it themselves they are at a complete loss, so this leads to procrastination. In order to have the success you are looking for in your home-based business you will have to work on overcoming procrastination and this begins when you face what it is you are afraid of because fear is what procrastination is about.
Simply put, there is a fear of success. Even though this seems counterintuitive it is true. They are also afraid to fail so you have a dilemma here and procrastination takes care of both of them. Keeping from working on your business will lead to failure because you are neglecting it when it needs your attention; there is not way to succeed when you do this. The fear of failure will not be a factor when you procrastinate because you will know that you are not going to fail because you did something. The failure that a procrastinator has is the type where it happens because it happens and not because you did anything to cause it. Overcoming procrastination requires that you come out of your comfort zone and do what makes you nervous which is to do some work for your business.
Fear of rejection is a fear that a lot of people in sales have to conquer. The thought is that if someone rejects your business opportunity they are rejecting you personally but they are not. Understanding that it isn't you who is being rejected will go a long way in helping you to start overcoming procrastination. There are always the same few reasons given by people who turn down a business opportunity so it is not exclusive to you that you receive these rejections. What happens is that the people you ask to join your business then become the procrastinators because they can't decide if your business is a good one so remembering that should help you keep from being the procrastinator.
